  • Overview

    The Regional Dental Hygiene Specialist provides coaching and guidance to dental hygienists within a select group of offices within Gentle Dental.  The Regional Dental Hygiene Specialist guides and supports hygienists in delivering excellent patient care by helping develop their clinical skills and build trusting relationships with patients and staff. They will partner with both clinical and non-clinical staff to be sure personal, office, and organizational goals are met.


    • Conduct new hire hygiene orientation and onboarding, per the request of the Senior Dental Hygiene Specialist.
    • Provide ongoing training and coaching to hygienists within the delegated offices, as needed.
    • Attend and participate in facilitating hygiene meetings orchestrated by the Senior Dental Hygiene Specialist on behalf of Gentle Dental.
    • Visit and evaluate all offices within designated area regularly. Report findings to Senior Dental Hygiene Specialist per the established office template.
    • Analyze and interpret Hygiene metrics, perform chart audits, and provide solutions to enhance delivery of patient care to the Senior Dental Hygiene Specialist.
    • Establish an agenda and lead regularly scheduled coaching calls.
    • Attend Hygiene Continuing Education Programs provided by Gentle Dental.
    • Attend Doctor Continuing Education Programs provided by Gentle Dental.
    • May be requested to attend select conferences each year with the Senior Dental Hygiene Specialist as a representative of Gentle Dental.
    • Maintain continuing education to ensure life-long learning in key areas of hygiene.


    • Possess active state dental license.
    • Outstanding track record of providing quality patient care.
    • Ability and willingness to coach, teach and mentor others.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Able to conduct oral presentations.
    • Willingness to be coached and adapt to change
    • Integrity, honesty, and willingness to uphold Gentle Dental Core Values






    • Improve Hygiene - Doctor relationships within the offices
    • Maintain hygiene retention rate of 80%
    • Increase hygiene revenue/patient count
    • Increase preventative and therapeutic services
    • Develop/implement programs aligned with the Standards of Care (including but not limited to):
      • 65% Fluoride – CDC
      • 70% Periodontal therapy/maintenance rate - AAP
